We are a home away from home for children aged 2 years to 5 years located in the community of One Tree Hill. We weave the forest kindergarten pedagogy into early childhood education through using the urban setting of Cornwall Park, Auckland.
We follow Te Whāriki, our National Early Childhood Curriculum. Linking of the curriculum to our community and the living world is our methodology for learning therefor providing meaningful learning experiences for our children.
We model it’s pedagogy on the Forest Kindergartens of Europe. It is also known as Waldkindergarten (in German), outdoor nursery, nature kindergarten, or nature preschool. Children learn in context through stimulating, hands-on experiences. Learning is most effective when multiple senses are involved.
We provide a high standard of education in a warm, safe and nurturing environment, where children can feel comfortable and have a sense of belonging.
As our children make transitions to school, as teachers we ensure that their transitions are smooth, and supported well. We empower and encourage our children to be independent learners. We take time to learn about our children and parents’ aspirations.
We team up with Nurture Kids, providing healthy and fresh meals for our children 3 days a week. On the other 2 days, our teachers and children prepare lunches together. Our children gain a host of valuable skills and experiences from our curriculum cooking programme
