We understand that proper nutrition plays a crucial role in a child’s development and wellbeing. That’s why we are committed to providing healthy, delicious meals for our tamariki, with a focus on using seasonal and high-quality ingredients to create balanced and nourishing dishes.
Our dedicated cook enables us to participate in the Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award programme, working towards the Pā-Harakeke Award. Through this initiative, we will receive one-on-one guidance from nutrition advisors who will support us in strengthening our menu planning, ensuring balanced meals, and promoting healthy eating habits for young children.🧀🍅🐟🥕
We also run Curriculum Cooking Programme on the other 2 days. Our children gain a host of valuable skills and experiences from preparing lunches with teachers. They learn practical abilities such as measuring ingredients and following recipes, which help them develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. This activity also introduces them to the basics of nutrition, encouraging healthy eating habits. Moreover, working together in the kitchen fosters teamwork and communication, enhancing their social skills. Preparing lunches also builds independence and confidence, as children take pride in contributing to a shared meal. This cheerful and collaborative programme has turned cooking into an exciting learning adventure!
